Vacuum Technician (Cryogenic Equipment)

Location: Lafayette, Indiana Manufacturing Facility; full-time onsite

Pay rate: $23.50–$34.00 per hour

What you will do

• Set up and operate vacuum pumping systems, pumps, gauges, hoses, valves, and related equipment.
• Monitor and record vacuum readings throughout evacuation processes.
• Perform vacuum testing and verification to confirm vessel specifications.
• Operate helium leak detection equipment, identify leaks, and complete approved repairs.
• Troubleshoot basic vacuum system issues and escalate complex problems.
• Maintain equipment, production records, safe work areas, and compliance with quality and safety procedures.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–2 years of experience in vacuum systems, industrial manufacturing, mechanical maintenance, fabrication, cryogenic equipment, or a related technical field.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn vacuum systems, leak detection, and manufacturing operations.
• Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring devices.
• Ability to read technical documentation and accurately collect, record, and communicate information.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work overtime and weekends as required.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, maintenance, construction, automotive repair, or other hands-on technical environments.
• Exposure to vacuum, leak detection, cryogenic, or industrial testing equipment.
• Technical trade school coursework or vocational training.
