State and Local Tax Director - Indirect Tax

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; full-time position.

Salary: $267,760–$351,450 annually in Atlanta.

What you will do

• Advise middle-market and Fortune 500 clients on strategic state and local tax matters.
• Manage multidisciplinary, multistate reviews covering income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, ad valorem, and other taxes.
• Research nexus, taxability, and potential liability issues and identify filing options, exemptions, credits, incentives, and structural opportunities.
• Handle tax controversy work, including client correspondence, ruling requests, and guidance during state audits.
• Plan and execute due diligence, voluntary disclosure, process review, reverse audit, and other tax projects.
• Manage engagement staffing, billing and collections, client profitability, networking, and team development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; a Master’s in Taxation or LLM is relevant.
• CPA, JD, CMI, or EA certification required.
• 10+ years of state and local tax experience.
• 5+ years of supervisory experience, with mentoring and associate counseling experience preferred.
• Experience serving clients in a consulting firm is preferred.
• Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship is highly preferred.
