Electrical Engineering Intern (Building and Facility Design)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts; hybrid work with at least 3 days per week in the office

Compensation: $52,526.00–$59,689.00 per year

What you will do

• Support and learn building and facility electrical design across field surveys, calculations, equipment selection, and coordination with trades.
• Prepare AC and DC single-line diagrams, control and wiring schematics, layouts, conduit routing drawings, cable schedules, and installation drawings.
• Design grounding grids, lightning protection, lighting, power distribution, and fire alarm systems under senior engineering guidance.
• Develop schematic designs into construction documents and participate in project phases from planning through construction close-out.
• Assist with technical and cost proposals, change orders, utility service layouts, power generation and storage, and power system distribution.
• Coordinate with railway clients, utility representatives, and internal hirify.global departments.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES-equivalent institution.
• Ability to work in the Boston office at least 3 days per week.
• Ability to use or learn electrical design and analysis software for load flow, short-circuit calculations, relay coordination, and ground grid design.
• Preference for candidates able to participate for at least 3 months.

Nice to have

• Experience in the architecture, engineering, or construction management industry.
• Intermediate proficiency with AutoCAD or MicroStation.
