Structural Engineer in Training (EIT)

Location: Onsite/office-based in Anchorage or Fairbanks, Alaska, USA

What you will do

• Assist with structural engineering calculations for new construction and rehabilitation or renovation projects.
• Support building-code review, research, and interpretation of applicable regulations.
• Create and review sketches, structural plans, details, specifications, and design calculations.
• Assist with structural design and Construction Administration activities, including construction observations.
• Participate in meetings and collaborate with architects and civil, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering from an accredited institution.
• Engineer-in-Training status and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
• Minimum two years of structural engineering experience preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Mathcad, and structural analysis software such as RISA, STAAD, SAP, or Enercalc.
• Ability to review structural construction drawings, prepare design documentation, and interpret building codes and regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record; the role requires vehicle use for business-related travel.

Nice to have

• Experience working in cold regions or Alaska.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
