Physicist - Consultant (Defence Technology)

What you will do

• Investigate challenging scientific and technical problems and develop novel solutions.
• Design experiments and investigations to test ideas and turn them into working prototypes.
• Apply invention, analysis, computational modelling, prototype design, and technology transfer to manufacturing.
• Work with and lead expert teams of engineers and scientists on client projects.
• Contribute to technology development with direct impact on UK defence and citizen safety.

Requirements

• Demonstrable technical experience as a physicist in one or more relevant areas, including quantum technologies, optics, electromagnetics, sonar and acoustics, semiconductor physics, thermal systems, fluid analysis, or algorithm design.
• Track record of academic excellence and a relevant postgraduate degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Proven technical capability in physics and experience developing technology or conducting research.
• Eligibility for UK security clearance is required.
• UKVI visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

• Exposure to technical project management.
• Experience communicating with clients and stakeholders and acting as a subject matter expert.
• Experience planning and proposing novel R&D activities.
• Experience with budgets and resource planning.
