What you will do

• Design waveforms for fast and efficient ion transport on surface ion traps.
• Design waveforms for inter-module connections using UQConnect.
• Contribute to ion trap designs optimised for fast ion transport.
• Develop accurate physics models and optimisation software.
• Work with hardware teams to implement ion transport methods on quantum devices.
• Analyse experimental results and compare them with theoretical predictions.

Requirements

• Experience designing waveforms for ion transport.
• Strong background in modelling classical and quantum dynamics and numerical optimisation.
• Track record of collaboration with experimental research groups or the quantum hardware industry.
• Proficiency in scientific programming, such as Python.
• PhD in ion trap physics or a related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published research results.

• Experience in quantum computing or quantum technologies.
