What you will do
- Develop mechanical and electromechanical solutions for sustainable energy and chemical-process technologies.
- Apply first-principles engineering to calculations, analysis, modelling, design, and problem solving.
- Generate concepts and take them from laboratory development through pilot-scale testing.
- Design mechanical components and systems using CAD, supporting procurement and supplier engagement.
- Contribute to risk management, failure mode analysis, and systems-level design decisions.
- Explore new business opportunities and develop project leadership capability as a consultant.
Requirements
- Strong academic background and demonstrated mechanical engineering capability.
- Experience with mechanical calculations, including stress analysis, strength assessments, and thermal analysis.
- CAD design experience with SolidWorks and/or OnShape.
- Experience in electromechanical system design and integration.
- Ability to model systems from first principles using MATLAB and/or Python.
- Hands-on laboratory skills and understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of regulations for pilot plants, pressure equipment, and explosive or hazardous environments.
- Experience with tolerance analysis and tolerance stack-ups.
- Understanding of heat transfer, heat-flux calculations, and thermal analysis.
