Director, Hardware Engineering

Location: South Jordan, Utah, USA; in-office at least 4–5 days per week. Relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Set priorities across competing hardware and product development projects.
• Hire, mentor, and develop engineers and project managers into high-performing teams.
• Guide risk assessment, project planning, troubleshooting, root-cause identification, and incident management.
• Partner with Industrial Design, UX, Product Management, Software, and other functions to develop new consumer products.
• Evaluate manufacturing partners, manage product and tooling cost benchmarks, and contribute to technology roadmaps and budgets.
• Support prototyping, pre-production, mass production, and resolution of critical project issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of electromechanical systems.
• Hands-on management experience leading a large engineering team.
• Proven leadership on complex projects and at least 5 years of project management experience related to product development.
• Strong communication, teamwork, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Project and Excel; statistical process control knowledge, including CPKs, T-Tests, X-Bar/R charts, and DOEs, is desirable.

Nice to have

• Consumer product development experience.
• Proficiency in Minitab.
• Experience applying and mentoring engineers in statistical process control methods.
