Principal Consultant - Power & Renewables

Location: Hybrid role based in Houston or Boston, with 2–3 days per week in the office; occasional travel throughout the Americas region.

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 annual base pay for the Boston, MA location, excluding short-term incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Lead complex commercial and strategy consulting mandates across Americas power and renewables markets.
• Set project objectives, shape analytical approaches, and manage delivery on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
• Own the quality of analysis and recommendations and present clear, authoritative conclusions to clients.
• Advise senior client teams, including as a commercial advisor on power and renewables transactions.
• Manage client relationships throughout mandates and identify opportunities for further work.
• Coach junior consultants and collaborate across consulting, research, sales, and account management.

Requirements

• Typically 7+ years of experience combining consulting fundamentals with power and/or renewables market expertise.
• Proven experience leading projects and teams, using structured problem-solving and analytical rigor to address complex questions.
• Solid understanding of power and renewables markets, including fundamentals, price formation, wind, solar, storage, gas, flexible resources, and the energy transition.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present high-impact storylines to senior audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, physics, or a similar discipline.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills, plus the ability to work in a hybrid office-based arrangement in Houston or Boston.

Nice to have

• Experience acting as a commercial advisor in power and renewables transactions.
• Financial modelling and power generation asset or market modelling experience, including asset pro-forma models.
• Master’s degree or MBA.
• Python and agentic AI tool development skills.
