Location: Onsite in Tonawanda, New York, United States; the role is not remote and may involve assignments at more than one office location. The position requires three shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $21.70–$30.38 USD per hour.

What you will do

  • Arrange the release of imported and exported merchandise from customs custody and prepare customs entry summaries.
  • Analyze import and export documentation to determine admissibility, bond liability, tariff classification, duty rates, entered value, and eligibility for special tariff programs.
  • Submit required documentation and information electronically to U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies.
  • Communicate with customers, carriers, customs authorities, and other parties to resolve classification, documentation, regulatory, and clearance-status questions.
  • Audit entries for accuracy and compliance, correct errors, and refer complex compliance or admissibility issues to regulatory services.
  • Prepare activity and quality reports and, where applicable, perform reconciliation, billing, customs payment, and regulatory recordkeeping activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Six months of brokerage, transportation, or customer service experience preferred; one year of classification or related experience desired.
  • Knowledge of HTS classification, the harmonized tariff system, U.S. Customs regulations, merchandise admissibility, marking requirements, and applicable federal regulations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, interpersonal, problem-solving, mathematical, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with alpha-numeric keyboards, MS Office, Outlook, and standard office equipment.
  • Ability to handle high-volume, time-sensitive work independently with minimal supervision.
