CFD Engineer — AI Task Designer (OpenFOAM) (CFD/OpenFOAM): Designing compact, self-contained CFD and aerodynamics tasks that evaluate AI models' engineering reasoning with an accent on boundary conditions, mesh quality, flow regimes, and simulation setup. Focus on developing deterministic scoring checkers, verifying reference solutions, and grounding automatically gradable challenges in real-world fluid mechanics.

What you will do

  • Design compact, self-contained CFD and aerodynamics tasks for evaluating AI engineering reasoning.
  • Write precise problem statements covering boundary-condition selection, mesh quality, flow-regime identification, and simulation setup.
  • Develop deterministic checkers that automatically evaluate model answers.
  • Provide verified reference solutions and confirm that tasks are solvable and correctly scored.
  • Review tasks for physical accuracy, clarity, and appropriate difficulty using practical OpenFOAM experience.
  • Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with OpenFOAM.
  • Strong foundations in fluid mechanics, aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
  • Experience with mesh generation, turbulence modeling, boundary-condition specification, and post-processing.
  • Ability to formulate precise, self-contained, objectively verifiable engineering problems.
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to explain complex physics clearly.
  • Background in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline; BE/BSc or higher preferred.

Nice to have

  • Experience with multiple CFD solvers or multiphysics platforms.
  • Python, Bash, or MATLAB scripting for simulation setup or post-processing.
  • Experience with design optimization, flow-control strategies, or adjoint methods.
  • Graduate-level coursework or research in aerodynamics, propulsion, or computational methods.
  • Experience writing technical assessments, exam problems, or engineering challenges.
