Assurance & Audit Specialist (Compliance)

Location: Remote within the United States with on-site meetings expected; Washington, DC and project sites nationwide

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering assurance and audit support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing projects.
• Review project documentation, technical and commercial interfaces, assumptions, and source evidence.
• Perform compliance verification, controls testing, evidence reviews, and reporting-integrity checks.
• Support technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, conditions-precedent reviews, and disbursement-readiness assessments.
• Prepare audit protocols, workpapers, findings logs, corrective-action tracking, and quality-assured Independent Engineer reports.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, and project-controls stakeholders.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy-infrastructure advisory experience.
• Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental science, construction management, business, risk management, finance, or a related field.
• Knowledge of technical due diligence, risk assessment, assurance audits, control testing, evidence review, data-room review, information-request tracking, and reporting.
• Strong analytical judgment, independence, objectivity, attention to detail, documentation discipline, stakeholder coordination, and issue escalation skills.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States and attend on-site meetings or project-site activities when required.

Nice to have

• PMP, CQA, CIA, ISO Lead Auditor, CHMM, CSP, or PMI-RMP certification.
• Experience with DOE Loan Programs Office-style documentation and lender or federal project-finance engagements.
• Advanced proficiency with Excel, Microsoft Office, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, and data-analytics tools.
