Geophysicist (Oil And Gas)

Location: Remote within the United States, with on-site meetings and visits to project sites nationwide; initially associated with Washington, DC

What you will do

• Provide independent engineering advisory support for DOE Energy Dominance Financing technical due diligence, credit evaluation, lifecycle monitoring, and assurance activities.
• Perform seismic interpretation, geophysical risk assessment, subsurface characterization, basin and reservoir assessment, and geological resource validation.
• Review project documentation and data rooms, validate technical assumptions, identify risks and mitigations, and assess technical and commercial interfaces.
• Prepare defensible work products, including seismic interpretations, geophysical uncertainty assessments, maps, volume estimates, technical risk summaries, and Independent Engineer reports.
• Support conditions-precedent reviews, disbursement readiness, draw package checks, risk register updates, issue closure tracking, and project monitoring.
• Coordinate with engineering, finance, legal, construction, operations, environmental, HSE, project controls, DOE, and lender stakeholders.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States and able to participate in on-site meetings and project-site activities nationwide.
• 10+ years of relevant engineering, construction, operations, compliance, risk, finance, or energy infrastructure advisory experience.
• Experience with oil and gas, power, utilities, or large-scale infrastructure projects for owners, lenders, independent engineers, or federal clients.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, petroleum engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with independent engineering review, technical due diligence, seismic interpretation, geophysical risk, subsurface characterization, data-room review, report writing, Excel-based analysis, and stakeholder coordination.
• Technical judgment, independence, analytical rigor, attention to detail, defensible documentation, and the ability to translate technical findings into financing and risk implications.

Nice to have

• PE, PMP, CSP, API, NACE/AMPP, PMI, or other discipline-specific credentials.
• Experience supporting DOE, the Loan Programs Office, credit evaluations, construction monitoring, or lender reviews.
