Senior Geochemist (Mining Geochemistry)

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; preference for candidates based in or willing to work from the Bozeman, Montana, office, with qualified Vancouver applicants encouraged to apply

Salary: $110,000–$140,000 annually, depending on experience and expertise

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership within the mining geochemistry and biogeochemistry consulting practice.
• Lead geochemical characterization, mine waste and mine water investigations, and laboratory and field testing programs.
• Conduct and oversee predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling studies.
• Interpret complex geochemical, environmental, hydrogeological, and biogeochemical datasets.
• Prepare and review technical deliverables while ensuring high standards for quality and consistency.
• Support proposals, client development, industry engagement, and the growth of the mining geochemistry practice.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Geochemistry, Geology, Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Experience managing technical consulting projects and leading complex multidisciplinary teams.
• Expertise in predictive geochemical and hydrogeochemical modeling.
• Strong technical writing, verbal communication, presentation, client management, and business development skills.
• Professional Geologist registration, or the ability to obtain it, plus a valid driver's license and willingness to travel.

Nice to have

• 10+ years of experience in mining geochemistry or environmental consulting.
• Professional network within the mining industry and experience with geochemical characterization and mine water quality prediction.
• Experience with PHREEQC, Geochemist's Workbench, MIN3P, GoldSim, or similar geochemical modeling software.
• Experience overseeing geochemical testing programs, environmental microbiology, or biogeochemistry projects.
• Code-based data analysis workflows using Python, R, or SQL, plus technical publications or conference presentations.
