RCM Accounts Receivable Specialist (Behavioral Health)

What you will do

• Manage the accounts receivable workflow, including claim submission holds, edits, rejections, denials, appeals, and 30/60/90+ day aging buckets.
• Prioritize high-value claims and resolve billing issues to improve cash flow and reduce the AR backlog.
• Partner directly with providers and practices to investigate denials, gather information, and prevent recurring issues.
• Answer claim-specific billing questions escalated by Customer Success, Implementation, and Account Management.
• Apply E&M, place-of-service, payer, and state-specific telehealth billing rules to determine appropriate billing actions.
• Identify automation and workflow improvements in Candid, support quality audits, and contribute to higher touchless claim rates.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of hands-on accounts receivable resolution experience, including denials, rejections, appeals, aging prioritization, and cash-flow optimization.
• Direct behavioral health billing experience with medication management visits, psychotherapy add-on codes, and mental-health telehealth claims.
• Experience with modern E&M billing, place-of-service rules, telehealth modifiers, and payer reimbursement policies.
• Experience using major payer portals such as Availity, Navinet, PayerCompass, or payer-specific portals.
• Daily practical use of AI tools such as Claude or Gemini.
• Must be based in the United States, eligible to work in the US without sponsorship, and able to work as a W-2 employee.

Nice to have

• Candid Health experience.
• Interventional psychiatry billing experience with Spravato, TMS, ketamine, or comparable high-acuity behavioral health services.
• Experience with Notion, Slack, or Pylon.
• Documented startup or scale-up experience.
