Executive Director, Provider Contracting (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the continental United States; Alaska, California, Hawaii, and New York are excluded. Based in Richardson, Texas.

Base pay: $161,500–$299,700 annually, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Develop and manage statewide and national provider contracting strategies for commercial HMO and PPO products.
• Draft, negotiate, and complete reimbursement agreements with hospitals, physician groups, ancillary providers, and hospital-based physicians.
• Ensure appropriate network coverage and oversee provider relations for HMO, PPO, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid networks.
• Analyze reimbursement performance, oversee hospital audits, and implement corrective actions.
• Resolve contractual disputes and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead contracting operations staff, including goal setting, training, communications, budgeting, and operational reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and 15 years of experience in healthcare or insurance administration, healthcare contracting, or hospital and physician relations; alternatively, 19 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• At least 7 years of management experience.
• Knowledge of hospital and provider reimbursement strategies and policies.
• Strong negotiation, communication, interpersonal, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience managing budgets, evaluating financial impact, preparing business cases, and conducting cost-benefit analyses.
• Ability and willingness to travel.

Nice to have

• MBA or master’s degree in health administration.
• Experience developing and executing national or multi-market contracting strategies.
• Experience negotiating value-based care and risk arrangements.
