ML Research Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site in Mountain View, California, United States

Salary: $220,000–$300,000 USD annually plus equity

What you will do

• Design, train, and evaluate LLMs, diffusion models, and domain-specific ML architectures.
• Develop scalable experimentation pipelines across data processing, model training, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with data and infrastructure teams to improve training throughput and data quality.
• Contribute to open research, internal benchmarks, and emerging multimodal and generative AI techniques.
• Prototype research insights and productionize them into usable tools and models.
• Set standards for research rigor, documentation, and reproducibility.

Requirements

• 3–10 years of experience in ML research, applied ML, or ML systems engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Experience with Transformers, diffusion models, or RLHF.
• Strong foundations in data processing, distributed training, and evaluation metrics.
• Ability to translate research papers into working prototypes and production-ready code.
• Comfort building from zero to one in a fast-moving, unstructured startup environment.
