Senior Machine Learning Researcher (Healthcare AI)

Location: Must be based in the United States (San Francisco Bay Area preferred).

Salary: $170,000 – $220,000 per year + equity.

What you will do

• Own multimodal ML work-streams from problem definition through experimentation, evaluation, and deployment.
• Translate clinical and product needs into clear ML objectives and data strategies.
• Build and evaluate modern ML systems using transformers, self-supervised learning, and segmentation techniques.
• Design rigorous evaluations that go beyond offline metrics to ensure clinical meaningfulness and robustness.
• Partner with engineering to productionize models and investigate failure modes like dataset bias or domain shift.
• Mentor researchers and engineers while contributing to the broader research roadmap.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 4+ years of applied ML research or engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on ability in Python and PyTorch.
• Experience owning substantial ML projects across the full lifecycle.
• Deep understanding of computer vision, NLP, or deep learning.
• Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs to both ML experts and clinical partners.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical imaging (X-ray, CT, MRI) or radiology workflows.
• Familiarity with clinical validation, FDA, or HIPAA considerations.
• Publications or open-source contributions in relevant fields.
