Salary: $150,000–$200,000 per year, adjusted according to background and experience.

Company

A hardware company that operates balloon-based systems and sells the data produced by them, with production scaling alongside frequent engineering changes.

What you will do

  • Own tooling, processes, production, and manufacturing engineering for parts transitioning from design to production.
  • Establish design-to-manufacturing handoffs for hardware that may still be evolving.
  • Develop functional end-to-end test fixtures and protocols for quality verification on the production line.
  • Design jigs, fixtures, assembly aids, and semi-automated systems for delicate hand assembly involving soft goods, heat-sealed plastics, and light soldering.
  • Build work instructions, revision and change practices, and production documentation.
  • Hire, mentor, and lead a manufacturing engineering team while collaborating with design engineering, the CTO, and COO.

Requirements

  • Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing, NPI, and assembly.
  • Senior individual contributor experience with the ability and motivation to build and lead a team; prior direct reports are not required.
  • Hands-on experience designing functional test fixtures and test protocols.
  • Strong mechanical and pneumatic fixturing and assembly-aid design skills.
  • Comfort building repeatable production processes around designs that are still changing, using sound judgment and flexibility.
  • Ability to work on-site in Redwood Shores is required.

Culture & Benefits

  • 401(k) plan.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance covered 100%.
  • Unlimited paid time off.
  • Incentive stock option plan.
  • Office food and beverages, including at least two catered lunches and dinners per week.
