Data Scientist (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid in Dearborn, Michigan, United States. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Salary: $68,300–$114,800, $85,400–$143,200, $99,600–$166,600, or $115,000–$192,900 annually, depending on salary grade, skills, experience, and job scope.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain statistical models measuring the drivers of used vehicle residual values and auction prices.
• Produce residual value forecasts supporting Risk, Vehicle Remarketing, Product, and other business processes.
• Quantify and decompose residual value gaps between brands and vehicle types.
• Analyze model results, identify trends, and respond to descriptive and inferential analytical requests.
• Develop dashboards, automation scripts, visualizations, and presentations for management and business customers.
• Integrate emerging analytical tools and data sources to improve used vehicle price modeling.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience conducting statistical analysis in a business or academic setting.
• At least 2 years of experience with data gathering and analysis tools such as SAS, Python, SQL, BigQuery, or Alteryx.
• Experience with visualization tools such as Qlik Sense, Tableau, or Power BI.
• Experience with Excel and PowerPoint, plus strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• At least 3 years of automotive industry experience, especially in the used vehicle market.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and model development.
• Experience with economics, econometrics, statistics, data mining, and short- or long-term volume and price forecasting.
• Ability to convert business requirements into solvable modeling problems and assess solutions against business realities.
