Software Engineer - Python/Java + AI Tooling (Senior)

Location: Hybrid, on-site 2–3 days per week in Mexico City or Toluca, Mexico

Salary: USD 70,000–80,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, build, maintain, and operate backend services, REST APIs, and integration components in Python and Java.
• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code and conduct quality-focused code reviews.
• Contribute to architecture decisions and troubleshoot production systems.
• Apply secure coding, observability, reliability, and performance best practices.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Architecture, Security, Data, and product stakeholders.
• Use Claude and Copilot for coding, refactoring, debugging, and test generation while reviewing AI-generated output critically.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong hands-on proficiency in Python and/or Java.
• Experience with REST APIs, SQL or NoSQL databases, and Git workflows.
• Strong testing practices and CI/CD fundamentals.
• Professional working English at B2 level or above required; C1 preferred.
• Ability to write high-quality technical prompts and follow data security, intellectual property, and confidentiality constraints when using AI tools.

Nice to have

• Experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and cloud-native development.
• Familiarity with domain-driven design, clean architecture, and design patterns.
• Prior experience in financial services.
