Location: Santa Barbara and surrounding areas, with regular travel to partner sites and mobile events throughout the Central Coast, including Salinas and San Luis Obispo. The role works in a hybrid office environment and requires reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license.

Salary: $26–$32 per hour

What you will do

  • Assist disabled California residents with specialized telecommunications equipment, relay services, speech-generating devices, applications, enrollment, and certification.
  • Provide customer service through phone, videophone, messaging, text, virtual platforms, partner locations, events, and mobile service activities.
  • Build relationships with community partners and coordinate enrollment events, equipment demonstrations, educational activities, and awareness programs.
  • Help customers select, use, and troubleshoot accessible telecommunications equipment and resolve complaints with providers.
  • Set up and break down mobile service areas, transport equipment and outreach materials, and support field events.
  • Record customer interactions, engagement data, inventory, applications, event outcomes, and program metrics in accordance with state contract requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree or higher is preferred.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organization, multitasking, record-keeping, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work in partner sites, outdoor mobile setups, presentations, events, and health fairs.
  • Familiarity with or ability to learn accessible telecommunications equipment and services for deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing populations.
  • Proficiency with CRM, inventory management, databases, and Microsoft Office systems.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid California driver's license are required; frequent regional travel is part of the role.

Nice to have

  • 1–2 years of experience in customer service, community outreach, social services, or assistive technology.
  • Ability to communicate in ASL at various proficiency levels.
  • Ability to speak Spanish, Tagalog, Mandarin, or Cantonese.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and national resources for deaf, deaf-blind, and hard-of-hearing communities.
