Workout Associate - Remote

Location: Remote within the United States; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Annual base pay: $76,875–$135,000 USD.

What you will do

• Manage a portfolio of distressed and criticized low- to mid-complexity commercial real estate loans.
• Analyze collateral, borrower and guarantor financials, market dynamics, rent rolls, operating expenses, reserves, and capital needs.
• Recommend, implement, and monitor workout strategies, including loan modifications, forbearance agreements, and foreclosure proceedings.
• Review, interpret, and negotiate notes, mortgages, guarantees, intercreditor agreements, and loan modifications.
• Prepare credit memoranda and risk assessments for management review.
• Coordinate with borrowers, legal counsel, Credit, Legal, Appraisal, and Compliance teams while maintaining portfolio reports and accurate loan files.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Accounting, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in commercial real estate workouts, special assets, or credit risk management, ideally at a regulated financial institution.
• Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial loan documentation.
• Experience underwriting rent-regulated multifamily properties in the New York City market.
• Strong credit analysis, collateral valuation, borrower negotiation, financial modeling, and risk assessment skills.
• Legal authorization to work full time in the United States without employer sponsorship is required.

Nice to have

• MBA or another advanced degree.
• Working knowledge of rent regulation laws and New York City multifamily market dynamics.
• Experience with loan servicing or risk management systems.
