Salary: $133,000–$166,000 USD annually for San Francisco Bay Area roles; remote US-only roles: $108,000–$135,000 USD annually

What you will do
- Develop and maintain analytical applications with Python, Streamlit, Plotly, Dash, and Django.
- Implement, test, deploy, monitor, and maintain application features and data workflows.
- Productionize statistical models and machine learning workflows and translate R-based analyses into tested Python software.
- Build data pipelines and interactive applications for clinical data processing, visualization, reporting, and decision support.
- Contribute to AI features for structured information extraction, retrieval-augmented generation, tool calling, and multi-step workflows.
- Collaborate with data scientists, statisticians, clinicians, product stakeholders, and engineers while improving application reliability, security, and traceability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, engineering, biostatistics, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 2+ years of experience in data engineering, backend engineering, full-stack development, analytics engineering, or a related role.
- Strong Python skills and experience with statistical analysis, data science, or machine learning workflows.
- Experience with analytical applications, backend or web frameworks, data pipelines, relational databases, SQL, APIs, and multiple data sources.
- Applied knowledge of at least one modern LLM capability, such as retrieval-augmented generation, structured extraction, tool calling, or agentic workflows.
- Experience with automated testing, Git, code reviews, debugging, and production considerations including validation, security, latency, cost, and human oversight.
Nice to have
- Experience in healthcare, biotechnology, clinical research, or another regulated environment.
- Familiarity with HIPAA-aligned data handling, Azure, Databricks, CI/CD, pytest, pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, or statsmodels.
- Experience deploying production web applications or using AI-assisted software development tools.
- Knowledge of biological medicine, healthcare, or clinical data.
