TL;DR
Unreal Previs and Layout Supervisor (Unreal): Leading previs and layout production for a new animated Unreal project with an accent on 3D sequences, virtual cameras, staging, composition, and cinematographic style. Focus on supervising artists, translating scripts and storyboards into animatics, solving technical challenges, and coordinating creative revisions across production departments.

Location: Vancouver, British Columbia. Applicants must have resided within BC as of December 31, 2025, and must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Remote work is available within BC; Vancouver and Lower Mainland artists may also choose hybrid or in-studio work.

Pay range: $2,200–$2,400 CAD per week for British Columbia.

What you will do

  • Oversee previs and layout processes and lead a team of artists.
  • Create 3D animated sequences, animatics, and virtual-camera setups in Unreal Engine.
  • Define camera placement, movement, lens choices, staging, composition, and the production’s cinematographic style.
  • Translate scripts and storyboards into compelling sequences and provide technical details to downstream departments.
  • Collaborate with Directors, Animation, CG, Lighting, Assets, Production, and Clients to implement creative feedback.
  • Conduct live Unreal reviews, resolve technical challenges, and provide regular feedback and mentorship.

Requirements

  • Prior previs and layout experience in an animation series or feature production, including team supervision.
  • Strong Unreal Engine proficiency and experience with Maya are required.
  • Working knowledge of 3D pipelines and tools including Katana, Houdini, and Nuke.
  • Strong understanding of staging, composition, cinematography principles, and aspect ratios.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time-management, problem-solving, and team-leadership skills.
  • Legal eligibility to work in Canada and BC residency as of December 31, 2025 are required.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of RenderMan or Arnold.
  • Ability to write or understand code and contribute to tool and pipeline R&D.
  • Experience with Flow, formerly ShotGrid, for production tracking, submission, and publishing.
