Senior Lead Architect (Optical Networking)

Location: Remote, United States; work-from-home position within the US.

Salary: $132,232–$176,310, $138,844–$185,124, or $145,456–$193,940 depending on state.

What you will do

• Translate emerging optical technologies into deployable architectures, standards, vendor requirements, and operational models.
• Develop technology roadmaps, reference architectures, lifecycle plans, interoperability requirements, and a 1–3-year optical network vision.
• Use AI tools for research, network analytics, documentation, automation, modeling, and decision support.
• Participate in standards bodies such as MSA, IEEE, OIF, and Open ROADM to advance optical network initiatives.
• Extract network data, analyze trends and demand, and present findings using data mining and analytics.
• Develop financial models and business cases covering TCO, ROI, NPV, sensitivity analysis, marginal cost, long-run average cost, capital efficiency, and demand-based forecasting; create an automation vision for the Optical Product line.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, optical, or telecommunications engineering, or 5–7+ years of equivalent experience and training.
• Master of Business Administration or 5–7+ years of equivalent experience in financial modeling.
• Fluency in DWDM, coherent optics, ROADM/Open Line Systems, optical performance modeling, and network resiliency.
• Strong analytical approach to problem-solving.
• Experience communicating technical solutions from C-level executives to entry-level employees.
• Experience serving as a technical subject matter expert and successfully leading a new product introduction into a production network.
• Strong data extraction and analytical skills using tools such as SQL and Power BI.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of quantum encryption, HCF/MCF, and APIs.
• Participation in at least one standards body.
