Applied AI Architect (Startups)

Location: San Francisco, CA or New York City, NY; hybrid attendance with staff expected in an office at least 25% of the time

Annual compensation: $240,000–$315,000 USD OTE, including target sales commissions or bonuses and base salary.

What you will do

• Partner with Account Executives to understand startup requirements and translate them into technical solutions throughout evaluation, deployment, and expansion.
• Help startups build evaluation frameworks and demonstrate Claude’s performance for their specific use cases.
• Advise founders and startup engineering teams on technical architecture and AI product development.
• Gather insights on emerging startup use cases and deployment patterns, and provide feedback to Product and Engineering.
• Travel to customer sites, startup events, and industry conferences for workshops and technical deep dives.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, or technical founder with founder-led sales experience.
• Experience working with startups or high-growth technology companies.
• Software engineering or technical founder background with strong credibility among technical founders and engineering teams.
• Experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications in production, including context engineering, evaluation frameworks, and modern AI architectures.
• Comfort with Python and familiarity with common LLM frameworks, tools, and integration patterns.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, or professional experience in a relevant field.

• Experience translating complex AI concepts into actionable insights for founders and engineering teams.
