Commissioning Engineer (Space & Defense)

Location: Onsite in Pueblo, Colorado, United States. Travel up to 15% within the continental United States may be required.

Base salary: $85,000–$110,000 USD annually, excluding benefits and bonus or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Support commissioning plans, test scripts, acceptance criteria, and the commissioning lifecycle from design review through operational handoff.
• Participate in design and construction reviews with facility, process, automation and controls, safety, and compliance disciplines.
• Verify equipment and systems against designs and specifications, and support punch list generation, tracking, and closure.
• Assist with pre-functional and functional testing of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, utility, and process control systems.
• Troubleshoot issues with contractors, technicians, controls engineers, and vendors while maintaining safety and quality standards.
• Maintain test records, deficiency reports, as-commissioned facility records, training materials, and system verification packages.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related Engineering with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or 7 years of hands-on experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience supporting commissioning, startup, or systems testing in industrial, construction, or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read drawings, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and contractor submittals, and perform field verification.
• Experience with punch lists, test records, deficiency reports, and concurrent project deliverables.
• Commitment to safety and ability to work under OSHA, ITAR, hazardous materials, and other rigorous regulatory requirements.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain applicable U.S. export authorizations under ITAR and related regulations. Must also meet applicable explosives licensing, background investigation, drug-free workplace, and minimum age requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience commissioning energetic materials facilities, solid rocket motor production environments, or other hazardous manufacturing facilities.
• Familiarity with process control systems, PLC/SCADA commissioning, and automated manufacturing or test equipment integration.
