Senior Data Scientist (AI)

Location: Cleveland, Ohio, USA. The role starts fully onsite and may later become hybrid, typically with one remote workday per week and potentially up to two subject to business needs, performance, responsibilities, and manager approval.

What you will do

• Prepare, clean, analyze, and visualize complex datasets for scientific, engineering, and business applications.
• Develop statistical, predictive, prescriptive, machine learning, and deep learning models.
• Build, validate, deploy, and scale AI/ML solutions and production-ready pipelines.
• Develop computer vision solutions for classification, object detection, segmentation, anomaly detection, and image-based prediction.
• Evaluate transformer-based architectures, multimodal systems, generative AI, and large language model applications.
• Collaborate with R&D scientists, data engineers, domain experts, stakeholders, and leadership to communicate findings and deliver solutions.

Requirements

• PhD or MS plus 3 years of experience in Data Science, Materials Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Strong Python programming skills, including data preparation, statistical analysis, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, and visualization.
• Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, deep learning, experimental design, hypothesis testing, supervised and unsupervised learning, classification, clustering, neural networks, and transformer architectures.
• Hands-on experience with computer vision, generative AI, large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents or copilots, and knowledge extraction.
• Experience developing, validating, and deploying AI/ML solutions for scientific, engineering, or business problems.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, OpenCV, YOLO, or equivalent frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud-based AI/ML platforms, MLOps, and model deployment.
• Experience with SQL, MongoDB, data pipelines, and data engineering workflows.
• Strong communication skills and experience presenting technical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
