TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Lunar Systems) (Aerospace Structures): Designing, analyzing, and building primary and secondary structures and mechanisms for lunar systems with an accent on structural components, harsh-environment analysis, and hardware testing. Focus on leading mechanical engineering work, executing vibration/shock/acoustic test plans, and coordinating vendors to meet quality, cost, and schedule objectives.

Location: Mojave, California, United States; onsite or hybrid

Base salary: $120,000–$150,000 USD per year

What you will do

  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers working on primary and secondary structures and mechanisms.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and establish tools, methods, and engineering best practices.
  • Design and analyze structural and mechanism components and assemblies.
  • Create and execute test plans, document results, and review CAD drawings, analyses, and test reports.
  • Manage component vendors while balancing quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Present programmatic and technical content.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least five years of experience in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Experience designing structural and mechanism components and assemblies.
  • Knowledge of analyzing components for harsh environments, including vibration, shock, and acoustic conditions.
  • Experience managing vendors and component procurement.
  • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR/EAR requirements and be eligible to obtain required export authorizations.
  • Ability to travel up to 5% within the United States and lift, move, or carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience developing hardware and systems for aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
