What you will do

• Review fire protection designs for new buildings and major renovations, including drawings, specifications, calculations, and design narratives.
• Evaluate passive fire protection barriers, automatic sprinkler and water-based suppression systems, fire alarms, detection systems, and life safety features.
• Review hydraulic, flow, demand, equipment sizing, device coverage, and system integration with HVAC, electrical, security, emergency power, elevators, and building automation.
• Develop or review commissioning and acceptance test plans and witness functional testing of fire protection and life safety systems.
• Identify non-conformances, recommend corrective actions, and collaborate with designers, project managers, construction personnel, and facility staff.
• Document design reviews, commissioning results, deficiencies, corrective actions, as-built drawings, system narratives, calculations, and operations documentation.

Requirements

• Active DOE clearance or DOD equivalent required.
• US citizenship required due to government contract and clearance requirements.
• Strong knowledge of passive fire protection barriers, sprinkler system design and testing, and fire alarm detection and notification systems.
• Ability to interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection drawings, specifications, and technical calculations.
• Knowledge of IBC, IFC, and relevant NFPA standards, including NFPA 3, 13, 25, 72, and 80.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and schedules.

Nice to have

• Experience developing commissioning plans and test procedures for fire protection and life safety systems.
• Experience conducting field inspections, functional testing, and integrated system testing in complex or mission-critical facilities.
• Familiarity with risk-based fire protection evaluation and organizational design criteria and documentation practices.
