Virtual Platform Engineer (VMware)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $125,000–$145,000 annually

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and operate VMware-based virtualization platforms across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
• Manage software-defined networking and storage platforms using NSX and vSAN.
• Administer vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, Aria, and Tanzu environments at enterprise scale.
• Build automation and operational tooling with PowerCLI and related technologies.
• Manage platform capacity and disaster recovery patterns, including SRM.
• Troubleshoot issues across compute, network, and storage layers while collaborating with technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• At least five years of hands-on VMware platform engineering experience; six or more years of overall experience required.
• Deep expertise in vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, vSAN, storage policy management, and NSX-T or NSX-V.
• Strong PowerCLI scripting, automation, troubleshooting, disaster recovery, and SRM skills.
• Familiarity with Tanzu Kubernetes Grid or VMware container platforms.
• Must be based in the United States and hold U.S. citizenship, a Green Card, EAD, or an H-1B transfer status. New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• VMware Certified Professional or VCAP credentials.
• Experience with VMware Cloud on AWS, AVS, GCVE, VMware Cloud Foundation, or Aria Operations.
• Exposure to migration programs from VMware to alternative virtualization platforms.
