What you will do
- Design, analyze, procure, build, commission, and maintain high-current and high-voltage equipment for superconducting magnet testing.
- Develop electrical testing infrastructure for new facilities, including scalable and multi-use systems.
- Create test plans, define objectives and required data, and implement the necessary instrumentation and controls.
- Maintain requirements, risks, safety documentation, schedules, budgets, schematics, wiring lists, drawings, CAD assemblies, and operations software.
- Troubleshoot integration and test issues, improve equipment and procedures for repeat tests, and analyze test results using custom tools.
- Lead anomaly investigations and present findings to physicists and engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, applied physics, or a related science field.
- At least 5 years of experience designing, building, and commissioning specialized electrical equipment.
- At least 2 years of experience with electrical analysis software such as PLECS, LTspice, ETAP, or Simulink.
- Knowledge of electromagnetic fundamentals, high-power electronics, stored-energy devices, and electrical safety standards including NEC/NFPA 70, OSHA, NFPA 70E, IEC, and IEEE.
- Experience designing and commissioning test facilities and developing and executing test procedures.
- Ability to work on-site in Devens, Massachusetts, work occasional nights, weekends, or on-call shifts, travel when required, and operate safely around industrial hazards including high voltage, strong magnets, and cryogenics.
Nice to have
- Experience with thermal or electromagnetic FEA software.
- Experience with NX and Teamcenter, schematic or PCB design software, and high-field magnet testing.
