Location: Dallas, Texas, United States. Candidates near other offices may also be considered. The role requires out-of-town travel for up to several weeks at a time and flexible work across weekends, holidays, overtime, and night shifts.
Salary: USD $67,496–$108,160 per year, depending on experience, education, skills, geographic location, and other compensable factors. An annual discretionary bonus may also be available.

What you will do
- Plan, coordinate, perform, and document commissioning activities from pre-commissioning and construction through testing, energization, and project closeout.
- Commission utility substation protection, control, and power circuits in line with client requirements, budgets, and schedules.
- Review wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents, and equipment specifications before projects and outages.
- Troubleshoot protection and control systems, substation equipment, wiring, settings, apparatus test results, and battery ground faults.
- Develop testing, commissioning, energization, and site risk assessment documentation, including mitigation measures for high-risk activities.
- Prepare, review, approve, and distribute detailed test reports, progress reports, test results, and analyses.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Power Systems, with related testing and commissioning experience.
- Ability to read construction and manufacturers' drawings, specifications, schematic diagrams, and one-line and three-line interconnection diagrams.
- Knowledge of electrical protection systems, relay communication, AC and DC schematics, and medium- and high-voltage substation or power plant equipment, or the ability to learn quickly.
- Experience with substation protection and control circuits, apparatus testing, commissioning methods, and interpretation of test results.
- Current US work eligibility and a valid USA driver's license issued by the state of residence are required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including effective communication and negotiation with clients and teams.
Nice to have
- Electric utility experience or commissioning experience with complex commercial and industrial equipment, protective relays, or power systems field engineering.
- Experience with Doble Protection Suite, ProTest, SEL AcSELerator, or Enoserv RTS.
