Staff Consultant (Cybersecurity)

Location: Washington, Virginia, United States; on-site support at the Pentagon is required

What you will do

• Develop cybersecurity and Zero Trust policies, directives, memorandums, CONOPS, CONIMPs, strategies, and governance documentation.
• Define information protection processes, technology requirements, baseline configurations, SDLC controls, change control procedures, and resilience requirements.
• Assess existing Zero Trust activities and systems, identify architecture deficiencies, and recommend alignment with Department of the Air Force Zero Trust roadmaps.
• Develop implementation plans, track milestones and deliverables, and coordinate activities across portfolio managers, program offices, and Air Force stakeholders.
• Prepare executive-level briefings, metrics, oversight reports, congressional reporting materials, taskers, and strategy documents.
• Support cybersecurity awareness, role-based training, exercises, communications, change management, and capability planning.

Requirements

• Active Secret security clearance required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related STEM field.
• Experience with Air Force or Department of Defense enterprise infrastructure, governance, policies, and procedures.
• Strong understanding of DoD cybersecurity and compliance frameworks, including RMF, NIST, and DISA STIGs.
• Ability to support the SAF/CN mission on-site at the Pentagon.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or advanced certifications such as PMP, ITIL, or cloud certifications.
• Experience with Air Force enterprise IT, Zero Trust architecture, or cloud migration in a defense environment.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and federal digital transformation initiatives.
• Zero Trust certifications or training from CSA, NIST, Microsoft, or MIT xPro.
• Artificial Intelligence training or certification.
