Summer 2027 Intern – Actuarial Benefit Consulting Services

Location: Hartford, Connecticut; on-site and in-person. The internship runs for 10 weeks from June 2, 2027 to August 6, 2027, with a full-time schedule of 40 hours per week.

Compensation: $26.50–$30.50 per hour, based on academic level and the number of Society of Actuaries exams passed.

What you will do

• Analyze client data used to develop pension plan liabilities and perform actuarial research and statistical analyses.
• Reconcile census changes and associated gains and losses.
• Prepare ERISA funding valuations and government filings.
• Support employer match true-up, non-elective allocation calculations, cost projections, plan design optimization, and non-discrimination testing.
• Develop tools and models to streamline actuarial workflows and support plan data analysis.
• Deliver individual and group projects while collaborating with team members and business leaders.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at a college or university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 and availability for the full 10-week program.
• Must reside near or be able to reliably commute to Hartford, Connecticut; this is an in-person internship.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship; CPT and OPT are not supported.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, accountability, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• At least two years of academic progress toward a bachelor's degree and expected graduation with availability for full-time employment by mid-2027.
• Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or another relevant math-focused major.
• One or more passed Society of Actuaries exams.
• Experience with large datasets, VBA, Microsoft Office, or Python.
