Lead GRC Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, USA; three full days per week in the San Francisco office, with remaining days remote and required time-zone overlap.

Salary: $220,000–$280,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility and equity.

What you will do

• Translate security, privacy, and compliance requirements into technical controls, automated checks, and enforcement mechanisms.
• Build pipelines and integrations across cloud infrastructure, identity providers, HRIS, source control, CI/CD, and SaaS applications.
• Create automated control checks, live monitoring, dashboards, alerts, audit-ready evidence, and preventative release gates.
• Develop unified controls that map evidence across multiple frameworks and automate evidence collection, testing, monitoring, and exception management.
• Continuously test control effectiveness, detect regression or drift, and provide live risk-posture data to security and GRC stakeholders.
• Design AI-assisted workflows for evidence analysis, control testing, monitoring, audit preparation, and AI-related assurance.

Requirements

• 6+ years across security, GRC, software engineering, automation engineering, or related technical roles.
• Experience translating framework, regulatory, or policy requirements into technical implementations and personally building automated security and compliance controls.
• Production-grade scripting or programming experience, including Python, APIs, and integrations.
• Strong understanding of SOC 2, ISO 27001, and credible control evidence.
• Ability to assess whether controls are effective, enforced, and continuously monitored, not merely implemented.
• Experience working in rapidly changing 0→1 environments and communicating technical controls clearly to auditors, engineers, and nontechnical stakeholders.
