TL;DR
Systems Observability Specialist (Prometheus/OpenTelemetry): Designing and operating metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting platforms for large-scale systems with an accent on signal quality, usability, and operational ROI. Focus on building high-throughput telemetry pipelines, managing distributed tracing and structured logging, and integrating observability with SRE, CI/CD, and incident management practices.
Location: 100% remote within the United States
Salary: $135,000–$155,000 annually

What you will do
- Design and operate metrics, logging, tracing, and alerting platforms.
- Manage the full observability stack, including collection agents, telemetry pipelines, long-term storage, dashboards, and alerting workflows.
- Improve telemetry usability, signal quality, and operational return on investment.
- Operate high-cardinality, high-throughput metrics and log pipelines.
- Integrate observability platforms with CI/CD and incident management tooling.
- Translate complex telemetry into actionable insights for engineering and business stakeholders.
Requirements
- Must be based in the United States for this 100% remote role.
- U.S. work authorization is required; U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, and H-1B transfer candidates are encouraged to apply.
- New H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- At least five years of experience in SRE, platform engineering, or observability; the position description also specifies six or more years of experience.
- Hands-on experience with Prometheus, Grafana, a major commercial observability platform, OpenTelemetry, distributed tracing, structured logging, and a general-purpose language such as Go, Python, or Java.
Nice to have
- Experience with Thanos, Mimir, Cortex, Loki, or Tempo at scale.
- Contributions to OpenTelemetry or other observability open-source projects.
- Familiarity with eBPF-based observability tooling.
- Experience with observability cost optimization or regulated environments with audit-grade logging requirements.
