What you will do

• Explore practical applications of AI in database engineering workflows.
• Build AI-assisted tools and agents for diagnosing database and application performance issues.
• Analyse execution plans, SQL, database telemetry, and operational data.
• Automate operational investigations, routine database workflows, monitoring, alerting, and incident analysis.
• Develop expertise in database administration, performance, capacity, reliability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery.
• Work with application and infrastructure engineering teams to diagnose complex production issues.

Requirements

• Strong technical aptitude, intellectual curiosity, and an engineering mindset.
• Strong interest in databases and complex system behaviour, with excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
• Some programming or scripting experience.
• Good SQL fundamentals or a strong desire to develop them.
• Strong interest in AI and LLMs and their practical application to engineering.
• Suitable background as a strong technical graduate or an early-career engineer with approximately 1–3 years of experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Oracle or other enterprise database platforms.
• Linux experience.
• Python or shell scripting.
• Cloud platforms or infrastructure automation experience.
