Cloud Networking Engineer (Kubernetes)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

What you will do

• Design, deploy, and operate Istio and Linkerd service mesh platforms across Kubernetes environments.
• Provide secure, observable, and reliable service-to-service communication using mTLS and traffic policies.
• Support service mesh adoption by application teams while avoiding unnecessary platform complexity.
• Operate and troubleshoot Envoy data-plane components across networking, application, and control-plane layers.
• Build tooling and automation in Go or Python.
• Collaborate with platform, SRE, networking, and application engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, or networking roles; the position specifies 6+ years of experience.
• Production experience operating Istio or Linkerd.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise, including networking, CNI, and ingress.
• Strong knowledge of Envoy proxy internals, mTLS, PKI, certificate lifecycle management, distributed tracing, and mesh observability.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens, Green Card holders, EAD holders, or H-1B transfer candidates; new H-1B petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Experience with multi-cluster Istio or Linkerd deployments.
• Familiarity with Cilium service mesh and eBPF networking.
• Open-source contributions to service mesh projects.
• Experience with SPIFFE/SPIRE and enterprise-scale zero-trust networking initiatives.
