TL;DR
Senior AI / Backend Engineer (AI/Python/LLM): Building Python services, APIs, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agent workflows, guardrails, and automated evaluations for a greenfield federal AI solution with an accent on grounded results, source citations, and secure information retrieval. Focus on designing retrieval and context-assembly systems, constraining unsupported model outputs, and validating accuracy, completeness, consistency, and adherence to guardrails.
Location: USA. Only sole U.S. Citizens may be considered; dual citizens are not eligible. Remote work may be available when permitted by contract.

What you will do
- Design and develop Python backend services and RESTful APIs for a greenfield AI solution.
- Integrate LLMs and build retrieval-augmented generation pipelines over approved enterprise data sources.
- Implement agent orchestration, reusable prompt-framework components, retrieval, ranking, context assembly, and citation mechanisms.
- Develop AI guardrails that limit unsupported assumptions, overly prescriptive outputs, legal determinations, and decisions reserved for human staff.
- Create automated evaluations and unit, integration, regression, and AI-quality tests.
- Instrument services and collaborate with technical, data, full-stack, and enterprise-search stakeholders to improve production readiness.
Requirements
- Strong Python software-development skills.
- Practical experience integrating LLMs into production or production-oriented applications.
- Experience designing RAG systems, retrieval pipelines, embeddings, context construction, or comparable information-retrieval workflows.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, backend service design, automated testing, and disciplined software-engineering practices.
- Understanding of agent orchestration, prompt design, AI guardrails, and model-output evaluation.
- Must be a sole U.S. Citizen; dual citizens are not eligible.
Nice to have
- Experience with source citation, document intelligence, enterprise search, or knowledge-retrieval systems.
- Experience with structured human feedback loops and AI evaluation frameworks.
- Experience in federal, regulated, or security-conscious environments.
- Familiarity with identity, access control, observability, and secure API integration.
