What you will do

  • Research and apply food regulations, governmental guidance, and internal policies to formulas, ingredients, packaging, labels, and claims.
  • Develop ingredient statements, nutrition facts panels, claims and disclosures, net weight, statements of identity, allergen information, and other label content.
  • Prepare and maintain regulatory documents, substantiation files, and compliance records.
  • Review label mechanicals and submit labels and documentation for USDA, Organic, Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free, and other certifications as applicable.
  • Support commercialization timelines, cross-functional meetings, process improvements, data management, training materials, and special projects.
  • Build competency in relationships with relevant government agencies and trade associations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field.
  • At least two years of food science experience, including internships or co-ops.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and apply regulatory guidance and internal practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organization, judgment, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and project deliverables while collaborating cross-functionally.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn complex regulations, systems, and business processes.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA labeling regulations and the food industry regulatory landscape.
  • Familiarity with food formulations, manufacturing processes, and formula management databases used for labeling.
  • Hands-on experience with food and beverage manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with documentation, compliance, process improvement, or training materials.
