Software Engineer, DTN (Aerospace Communications)

What you will do

• Develop and maintain delay-tolerant networking products, platforms, and APIs using Rust, gRPC, and Protocol Buffers.
• Build scalable distributed systems on Kubernetes and optimize applications for full-scale production deployments.
• Evolve the Hardy bundle router and integrate DTN capabilities with the Spacetime platform.
• Participate across the application lifecycle, including coding, debugging, technical design, and requirements gathering.
• Collaborate with frontend developers to connect user-facing elements with server-side logic.
• Create technical documentation, tutorials, sample code, and onboarding guidance for developers, customers, and partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer programming, computer science, or a related field.
• Strong technical communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple functions.
• Experience working with customers or end users, answering questions, and developing creative solutions.
• Curiosity about business and technology strategies, processes, objectives, and different technical ecosystems.
• Willingness to promote the technology and support developer and customer engagement.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom required.

Nice to have

• Experience designing scalable, distributed, microservice, or event-driven architectures.
• Experience writing scalable, tested software and integrating CNCF technologies and containerized services.
• Experience with delay-tolerant networking and standards such as CCSDS/IETF BPv7 and BPSec.
• Experience creating technical documentation, tutorials, or blog posts.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
