Staff Applied Scientist (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States or Canada; candidates must be legally authorized to work in one of these countries. 10–20% travel is required, including at least one week per year at exploration project sites.

Salary: $125,000–$235,000 per year, plus equity compensation.

What you will do

• Design, develop, calibrate, and deploy instruments and methods for mineral exploration data collection.
• Build proprietary exploration software and integrate geospectral, geophysical, geochemical, geologic, and geographic data.
• Develop predictive models for compositional anomalies and ore-grade mineralization in 2D and 3D.
• Apply scientific computing, statistics, computer vision, geophysical inversions, anomaly detection, and spatially aware clustering to exploration data.
• Create visualizations for model evaluation and interaction with complex datasets.
• Collaborate with data scientists, geoscientists, engineers, vendors, partners, and stakeholders to design field programs and guide exploration decisions.

Requirements

• High intellectual rigor, curiosity, ability to synthesize complex information, and ownership of large projects.
• Experience developing complex equipment with cross-disciplinary teams and vendors.
• Extensive experience with physical measurement and data analysis systems involving optics, electromagnetism, radiation, or gravity.
• Experience with systems integration, data acquisition, predictive modeling, applied statistics, and analysis of physical-system data.
• Strong Python data science and software engineering experience, including Git, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, SQL, non-relational databases, and cloud computing.
• Experience deploying sensors in the field and collaborating with domain experts in geology or other non-software disciplines.
