Test Design Engineer II (C/C++)

What you will do

• Develop and implement functional tests for new and existing products.
• Design or support the design of hardware and special test instruments for product interfaces and testing requirements.
• Develop software applications and automate test procedures using C++ and Python.
• Design, simulate, debug, and test digital and analog circuits.
• Fault-isolate product failures to the circuit and component level and ensure adequate test coverage in high-speed production environments.
• Research fiber-optic technologies, wireless communications, and related innovations; contribute to firmware development when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
• 2–5 years of professional engineering experience, with specialized engineering knowledge and the ability to lead projects.
• Experience with C/C++ object-oriented programming, debugging methodologies, hardware design, and software version control tools.
• Experience with communications test development tools, including MIB browsers, terminal emulation packages, and network monitoring software.
• Ability to work onsite at the Huntsville headquarters and travel internationally.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Information Science.
• Knowledge of Ethernet, TCP/IP, SNMP, ATM, switches, routers, DSLAM, xDSL, DS1, DS3, SONET, SDH, or EoCu.
• Experience with Java or Perl.
