Software Developer (Python)

Location: Calgary, Canada; hybrid work requiring 2 days per week in the Calgary office

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend microservices for data organization, permission management, auditability, and third-party integrations.
• Create software designs covering functional, non-functional, and security requirements, evaluate trade-offs, and recommend solutions.
• Contribute to frontend administrative and platform interfaces.
• Plan, schedule, and execute releases while maintaining platform reliability through automated testing and quality assurance.
• Review code and designs collaboratively, mentor junior developers, and improve development and deployment practices.
• Research and integrate emerging approaches, including AI-assisted and agent-driven workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent field, plus 5+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs, preferably with Python and FastAPI.
• Hands-on experience with GCP, AWS, or Azure and deploying containerized microservices with Kubernetes.
• Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code, such as Terraform, and automated CI/CD pipeline development.
• Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end automated tests using tools such as Pytest and Playwright.
• Basic knowledge of modern frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript, along with strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.
