TL;DR
Senior Factory Infrastructure Engineer (AI Manufacturing): Designing and operating infrastructure for Skyfall, an autonomous industrial printing platform, with an accent on thermal management, industrial plumbing, high-flow gas delivery, and factory monitoring. Focus on troubleshooting complex fluid systems, maintaining critical utilities, and building reliable infrastructure for automated manufacturing at scale.

Location: Los Angeles, California; full-time onsite presence five days a week in Hawthorne

Salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year, plus stock options

What you will do

  • Design and implement infrastructure for the Skyfall next-generation printing system, including chillers, industrial plumbing, and high-flow gas delivery.
  • Develop factory performance monitoring systems using sensors and data acquisition to provide real-time visibility into utility health, pressure, and flow.
  • Oversee power, process water, nitrogen, argon, and other critical utilities in accordance with safety codes.
  • Define preventive maintenance for pumps, compressors, HVAC, and other facilities equipment to improve efficiency and reduce downtime.
  • Source specialized fluid-system components and high-pressure fittings for infrastructure build-outs and engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a similar discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in facilities engineering, factory engineering, launch or ground systems engineering, or a similar field.
  • Strong understanding of fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and heat transfer from first principles.
  • Hands-on ability to troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and fluid systems.
  • Ability to work onsite in Hawthorne five days per week, with very limited exceptions.

Nice to have

  • EHS experience involving high-pressure gas safety, NFPA 55, and metal powder handling.
  • 3D CAD experience with SolidWorks, NX, or similar tools for facility layouts, piping routes, and mechanical mounts.
  • Experience scaling high-volume production, automated manufacturing lines, industrial automation controls, PLCs, or BMS.
  • Background in aerospace ground support, rocket engine test sites, cryogenic or high-pressure fluid systems, or new facility build-outs.
  • Knowledge of ITAR, ISO 9001, metal additive manufacturing, or powder-based industrial processes.
