Location: Onsite at Vandenberg SFB, California, United States

Salary: $85,000–$110,000 per year, depending on experience, location, and other factors.

What you will do

  • Solve operational orbital mechanics problems and process orbit-state and prediction data.
  • Coordinate and integrate information across functional areas to deliver products supporting customer situational awareness and decisions.
  • Perform orbital analysis related to conjunction assessment, proximity operations, and collision avoidance.
  • Apply orbital mechanics and astrodynamics to orbit determination, orbit maintenance, decay analysis, and orbital maneuvers.
  • Participate in crew operations outside normal business hours when required.

Requirements

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Must meet eligibility requirements and be willing to complete a background investigation and apply for a TS/SCI clearance.
  • At least two years of space-related experience in space situational awareness, satellite catalog maintenance, orbital analysis, and collision avoidance.
  • In-depth knowledge of orbital mechanics and astrodynamics, including tracking sensors, networks, data capabilities, and limitations.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based operating systems, particularly Red Hat or Fedora.
  • Familiarity with the Space Force Astrodynamics Support Workstation or similar tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

  • Technical degree in aerospace or engineering, space operations, or physics.
  • Experience with orbital or space science data and non-regular data message management.
  • Ability to create short Perl or other scripting-language programs for data-processing automation.
  • Ability to multitask and apply innovative analysis in a dynamic environment.
