Principal AI Engineer

Location: 100% remote anywhere in the United States

Anticipated pay range: $180,000–$200,000 annually USD. Total compensation includes US employee benefits and annual bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for scalable, modular software solutions that integrate AI.
• Architect and build MCPs, APIs, and AI agents, while developing prompt strategies for code, documentation, and test generation.
• Translate product goals into actionable tasks optimized for human and AI execution.
• Review human- and AI-generated code for performance, security, correctness, and maintainability.
• Mentor globally distributed developers and promote clean code, modern system design, and effective AI tool adoption.
• Collaborate on AI-enhanced build, testing, and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with a focus on architectural and technical leadership.
• 2+ years of production experience working with AI/ML models.
• Strong backend or full-stack engineering background with Python.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Devin AI, GitHub Copilot, or GPT APIs.
• Strong system design and task decomposition skills, especially for RAG and agentic systems.
• Experience leading distributed engineering teams, with excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Exposure to AI agent frameworks, domain-driven design, MCPs, microservices, vector or graph databases, embeddings, and LLM infrastructure.

• Portfolio or examples demonstrating AI-driven software development.
• Experience in a fast-paced SaaS or startup environment.
• Knowledge of HR, Legal, or Risk industries.
