TL;DR
Control Systems Engineer (Aerospace) (MATLAB/Simulink): Developing and verifying inner-loop flight control applications, engineering simulations, and control software for the reusable New Glenn orbital launch vehicle with an accent on model-based design, state estimation, and safety-critical vehicle systems. Location: Greater Seattle Area; applicants must be authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Base pay for Washington applicants: $134,961–$188,945.40 per year; ranges may differ by site.

What you will do
- Develop model-based inner-loop flight control applications for multiple New Glenn configurations.
- Build and validate fluids-subsystem engineering simulations to verify control algorithms and software requirements.
- Collaborate with fluids, systems engineering, software integration, avionics, and vehicle operations teams.
- Conduct Monte Carlo simulations and covariance analysis for system performance characterization.
- Support hardware-in-the-loop and software-in-the-loop testing, bench tests, integrated vehicle tests, and flight operations.
- Deliver flight software and provide basic operator training.
Requirements
- Degree in aerospace, mechanical, or related engineering and 5+ years of real project experience.
- Strong fundamentals in fluid mechanics, modeling, and model validation.
- Deep understanding of controls engineering, including frequency response analysis and stability margins.
- Experience with filtering, Kalman and extended Kalman filters, state estimation, and LQR/LQG optimal control.
- High proficiency in Simulink and MATLAB, plus practical embedded C or C++ software development experience.
- Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Git or Subversion, along with strong technical writing and communication skills.
Nice to have
- Successful controls development experience for real systems.
- Experience with high-pressure gas and cryogenic propellant systems.
- Knowledge of safety-critical systems engineering.
- Experience with rockets, missiles, or other aerospace vehicle systems.
